| I, Randy Robert Cotton, began my broadcasting career in
1990, for the Wyoming Community Television Center, as a volunteer, when I
was part of the production crew for high school swimming and basketball.
Six months later, I began anchoring the " West Michigan Travel
" program. The program was designed to promote the best West Michigan
attractions and festivals. It took me from Gaylord, to South Haven, to
Midland and Jackson, along with all the points in between. This kept the
viewer abreast of travel events around West Michigan. In 1994, I won the
" Producer of the Year " award for West Michigan Travel.
In 1997 , I joined the volunteer staff of WCET - TV, where I now anchor
and produce " Michigan's Travelogue ". The program focuses
primarily on the arts and attractions of the Grand Rapids and Ottawa
County area.
I also have had the opportunity to interview members of Michigan school
groups and senior citizens about their experiences in overseas travels.
Among my other experiences, I have had the opportunity to cover some
noteworthy and newsworthy events in Grand Rapids, such as the
re-dedication of the Gerald R. Ford Museum, the grand opening of the
VanAndel Arena and Clinton on the campaign trail eight years ago.
Among my hobbies are searching my roots and surfing the web.]
